ASCAP Writers' Night Winner

Summer Study Abroad - Hong Kong, China

Insider's View Guest Announced

Belmont alum Jozef Nuyens is the next guest for Insider’s View. Founder and CEO of Speakerheart™, Nuyens has used his experience in the music industry to redefine the business model for independent artists. Speakerheart allows artists to upload their music online for their own price. Nuyens also oversees all of PassAlong Networks’ global licensing and business expansion efforts.

Free Show

Belmont students are invited to attend the 26th Annual Colgate Country Showdown National Final event on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Ryman Auditorium. LeAnn Rimes will host the event for the second consecutive year. Special guest Little Jimmy Dickens will appear at this special TV taping. Five Regional winners advanced to compete for $100,000 in this year's National Final. They are Nash Street, Eldon Johnson, Carrie Joy, Trevor Panczak and Christy Suggett. Showcase Series Update

Curb College Showcase Series is proud to announce THE COVER SHOWCASE which will feature student artists performing all Top 40 cover songs in a professional-quality show that the showcase series has become known for. More details, including audition packets, will be coming soon! (This showcase will be replacing the Other Showcase this semester.) MBU4000, SNG 4000, and EIS4000 will be offered at THE COVER SHOWCASE.

Rock Showcase Packets

Packets due by JANUARY 18 @ 8PM to Massey 213. (No late packets accepted.)
Tape audition on January 26 to narrow down to 8 acts that will audition live.
Live audition in Curb Cafe on February 2.

There will either be three bands performing four songs each or four bands performing three songs each. So bring your best work to the table. Now that we don't have to include the pop genre in this showcase we are hoping for a solid show of rock music.

Acklen Entertainment Practicum

Need one hour credit? There are openings in Acklen Entertainment Practicum. Acklen meets Monday night from 5-6PM and is a one hour credit/project-based course designed to develop activity in the development, recording, production, marketing, and distribution of commercial recorded product. Students are assigned as needed to a project and are expected to complete assignments. Expected semester projects include: Indie Artist development (work with outside artists as needed), Southern Rock All-Star Marketing & Radio /web promotion, Production of Showcase Series (coordinate all aspects of production/sales/manufacturing), Video production (shoot/film local performances for YouTube promotions), Web Development (design, format, solicit signed bands material & maintain web sites), Booking/Venues (solicit bands for Acklen & book them in clubs), Latin street fair (May 3rd, 2008).
