Learn how to avoid common mistakes and pitfalls with host Liz Hengber (The Do’s and Don’ts of Music Row), and panelists Melanie Smith-Howard, president/owner of Harlan Howard Songs; Glenda Miller, studio manager and director of operations of Ocean Way Studio; Pete Fisher, general manager and VP of The Grand Ole Opry; and Autumn House, senior director of A&R at Capitol Records Nashville.

Scholarship Application Deadline

CEMB students interested in applying for a scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year should download an application from the forum site and submit it to the Dean’s Office by November 1. To be considered, you must reapply annually. Please take this opportunity to do so.

Belmont Billboard "Superstar of the Month"


The Student Leadership Council (SLC) would like to honor students, faculty & staff for excellence within the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. Each month, starting in January, SLC will recognize an outstanding student, faculty, or staff member within the College of Entertainment and Music Business as the
Belmont Billboard's "Superstar of the Month". You have the opportunity to nominate someone who has greatly influenced your life, education, or has accomplished something outstanding within the Curb College by emailing SLC at SLCnominations@gmail.com with reasons why they should be honored (please include their contact information). The winner for each month will receive a prize and will be honored with theirown special

Be prepared!!!! Monday, October 29...Oh, that's next Monday...The Maddox Grand Atrium will be all abuzz with 90 Entertainment & Music (including Audio Engineering) Industry representatives. Come early and beat the rush! The Fair is from 9 a.m. - 12 noon. Dress up and bring a well-prepared Résumé (a cover letter would be an excellent idea too!)!
*****FINAL PROJECTS FOR THOSE COMPLETING INTERNSHIPS THIS SEMESTER, THE FINAL PROJECTS WILL BE NOVEMBER 26 & 27 RATHER THAN NOVEMBER 19 & 20. MORE INFO TO FOLLOW!

Maymester in Poland

The price of this summer’s Maymester trip to Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Germany has been reduced by $1,000!!! The original price of the trip was estimated to be $5,800 and it is NOW $4,800!!! You might also qualify for a $500 “scholarship” which could reduce the costs of this trip even more!

In addition to these savings, any academic credit that you choose to sign up for will be discounted by 2/3! Yes, you will pay only 1/3 of the “regular” tuition for academic credit on this trip.

Legal Symposium at Vandy

ASCAP Writers' Night October 2nd

October 2 the Curb College will play host to guest writer Kyle Jacobs of Curb Music Publishing fame and student writers Andrew Mallanik, Hailey Steele and Bobby Hamrick. Jacobs’ first success as a writer came with the 2003 release of Kimberley Locke’s Top 10 A/C single “8th World Wonder.” He also co-wrote Garth Brooks’ new No. 1 single, “More Than a Memory,” which became the highest debuting country single in history. Since he began writing for Curb in 2003, artists such as Jo Dee Messina, Trace Adkins, Clay Aiken and Craig Morgan have recorded his songs. The series happens this Tuesday in the Curb Café at 6:00 p.m. 4000 seminar credit available.
