Kyle is best known for his 2003 Top 10 A/C single “8th World Wonder” with Kimberly Locke and most recently for the fastest rising single in the history of country music, Garth Brooks’ “More Than A Memory.” Join us to hear Kyle along with Belmont students Andrew Mallanik, Hailey Steele and Bobby Hamrick.

BORN AFTER VINYL…
Rocketown Records and Nettwerk Management are teaming up to promote music, conversation and social awareness with a new monthly concert series. Artists showcased will include Kyle Andrews, Amy Stroup, David Condos, Andrew Osenga, and Lanae Hale. Mary Anthony will be the special guest.
The inaugural event will be held at SYNC @ Nettwerk (1201 Vila Place, Suite 206), at 7 pm, Oct. 4. Admission is $5. Proceeds from the show will go to the defense for Eric Volz, a Nashville native who is falsely imprisoned in Nicaragua.

Don’t miss this year’s first INSIDER’s VIEW with Grammy award-winning writers/producer’s Drew Ramsey and Shannon Sanders. Ramsey and Sanders have written and produced for artists such as India.Arie, Marc Broussard, Kimberly Locke, and Randy Travis.

Drew Ramsey was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in music. He has toured with Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, and CeCe Winans, and has been a session guitarist for artists such as Michael McDonald and the Neville Brothers.

Shannon Sanders was born in Los Angeles, California, but moved to Nashville at the age of 12. He was a member of both TSU’s “Aristocrat of Bands” marching band, and Tecknik, one of Nashville’s first hip-hop groups. He has been musical director and keyboardist for recording artist India.Arie since 2001.

The duo won the 2006 Grammy for Best Rock/Rap Gospel Album for producing and writing Jonny Lang’s “Turn Around.” They have been nominated for other Grammy’s including Best R&B Album and Song for India.Arie’s “Voyage to India” in 2003.

Come hear these talented industry veterans talk about how their diverse tastes and backgrounds have made them so successful.

**SERVICE CORPS REGISTRATION AND FIRST MEETING**

Our first member meeting will be taking place on Friday, September 7th, 10am, in the Multimedia Hall on the 2nd floor of the Lila D. Bunch Library. This is a MANDATORY meeting for anyone who has
registered for Service Corps membership, but it is also a meeting for those who are simply considering membership. See you there!

Registration has begun for the Fall semester and will continue until Tuesday, September 11th. $5.00 dues must also be turned in by this date. Dues may be turned in at the first Member meeting on Sep. 7th (this is preferable) or to Kellie Meeks in the Music Business office on the 2nd floor of the Massey Business Center- the office directly beside the elevator. In either case, be sure to enclose your dues in an envelope with your name written on it. Dues must be turned in to Kellie Meeks by 4pm on the due date!!!

The Australian Entertainment Industry (Music Business, EIS Elective)
Study the entertainment and music industry in Australia. Examine business practices in Australia and compare them to the American entertainment industry. Delve into the marketing, publicity, A&R, touring, imports and exports of entertainment products. Explore the cultural and music center of Sydney (and Melbourne) and take a private tour of the Fox Movie studios that has produced such movies as "Mission Impossible II," "The Matrix," "Moulin Rouge" and "Star Wars: Episodes II & III." JOURNALISM
Multimedia, Murdoch & Media Ownership, Oh My! Rupert Murdoch owns MySpace, Fox News, TV Guide, The Sun in London and too many other media properties to name. His empire started in Australia. Examine what Murdoch owns, and explore how he and others are converging to keep YOUR attention. Whether media companies are using iPods or blogs, the goal is to get you to consume media. The bottom line is money, so let's follow the green to the "Land Down Under" and see the "Men at Work," the media moguls, that is. Dr. Sybril Bennett, bennetts@mail.belmont.edu Belmont University

Dates: June 4 to July 7, 2008
Locations: Sydney with a side trip to Melbourne
Costs: $6995, (plus tuition) including roundtrip transportation to and from departure cities. Most meals, other than breakfast, are at the participant’s own expense. A minimum of $950 should be budgeted for other meals, additional transportation, entrance fees and departure tax. Participants should also budget additional funds for personal expenses such as souvenirs and independent travel.

ACCOMODATIONS: Participants will reside in dormitories, budget accommodations, and/or hotels. Accommodations are based primarily on double occupancy; single rooms may be available at an additional cost. Daily breakfasts and some additional meals will be provided.

DEADLINES AND PAYMENTS: Application deadline is February 29, 2008. A $200 deposit is due at the time of application. A first payment of $3400 (in addition to the deposit) is also due at the time of application. The final
payment of $3395 is due April 18, 2008

The Curb College is happy to have Sparrow Records recording artist, Steven Curtis Chapman as the first guest writer in this year’s ASCAP Writers’ Night Series. The event will be held at 6:00 p.m. on September 11 in the Curb Café. The ASCAP Writer’s Night series provides students with a great opportunity to perform original music with well-known songwriters in Nashville. Past guests have included Rivers Rutherford and Craig Wiseman.

GMA Academy
GMA Academy, the industry’s official training camp and competition for unsigned artists will be held October 12-13. The event will include performances and seminars led by artists-in-residence Nicole C. Mullen and Mark Harris. Keynote speaker Shaun Groves will provide insight for success for independent artists and songwriters. Belmont students can attend for the discounted price of $125, which includes a one-year GMA student membership.

MANAGERS MEETING:::::
Reminder, for the selected 6-8 bands asked to perform at a Live Audition, there will be a MANDATORY Managers meeting on Wednesday September 12 at 10:00AM in the CEMB Board Room. This is located above Curb Cafe in the CEMB Offices. Just tell the secretary that you are there for the Resonate Christian Showcase Managers Meeting, and she will tell you where to go! This meeting is for managers only.
