Attention Seniors!
BMI CATALOG CAST
This is a program developed by BMI for the purpose of integrating Belmont University seniors into the Music Industry while serving BMI Publishing Companies and BMI Songwriters.
The BMI Catalog Cast is a CD series containing 10 catalog songs distributed bi-weekly to producers, A&R staffs and artist managers. It is a constant marketing tool for BMI and Belmont University while serving BMI’s Music Publishers and Songwriters. The students will learn how to work creatively with each other while they learn where key industry professionals are located and establish familiarity for future endeavors.
How it works:
BMI has collected 450 catalog songs from over 30 publishers for the project. The songs have been given to 15 students selected by the Dean’s office. The students have been divided into 5 teams. Each team has 90 catalog songs. Each team selects 2 songs to contribute to a 10 song compilation disc for distributing bi-weekly. The disc will be distributed by the teams so all students will familiarize themselves with “Who’s Who” and where they are located. Some A&R executives are aware of this program and have made themselves available for some “pitch” meetings. The students will also notify the publishers to let each know their songs are being pitched and deliver a disc to them as well. This networking should develop relationships for their futures in our industry.
During this program, students hear guest speakers comprised of producers, publishers, artists, managers, musicians, and songwriters regarding their experiences and methods in their creative processes.
This program will also promote, integrate and educate the students and will serve as a great blueprint in preparation upon their graduation.
This program is great for all involved and will provide a large helpful presence in future development between BMI, Belmont University and our Music Industry.
If you are interested in the BMI Catalog Cast please print off a copy of the application and return it to Sarah Cates by Friday, Sept.8th!
