Kevin Liles' rise from intern at Def Jam Records to Executive Vice President of Warner Music Group--is legendary in the music industry. >From an unpaid internship in 1991, Liles soared though the ranks to become President of Def Jam Music Group in 1998 at the tender age of 30. By the end of his tenure at the label, the Def Jam brand name had been embraced by all media for delivering all things hip hop. Want to perform at one of the best industry parties in Nashville in front of over 1,000 music business professionals??

The Nashville Chapter of the Recording Academy's Annual Block Party has emerged as one of the city's hottest tickets in town, with this years event on May 9 celebrating the eighth anniversary of this exclusive, members- only event. This year, following the introduction of their new student program, The GRAMMY University Network, NARAS has decided to allow a student or student band the chance to join their star studded line- up.

The outdoor spring fling, which has been held in the Chapter's parking lot, provides a relaxing atmosphere - enhanced by the free barbecue- for members to unwind, catch up with their friends and make new connections. Perspective members are invited to attend to learn more about The Recording Academy and get a firsthand look at the privileges that come with membership, with the event generating about 100 new members each year.

The GRAMMY Block Party, which attracts about 1,000 people, is also a showcase of the best talent emerging from Nashville's numerous musical genres. This year's event will feature an all-star lineup that will remain a closely guarded secret until invitations hit the streets in April. Former performers have included Wynonna, Keith Urban, Ricky Skaggs, Asleep At The Wheel, Rascal Flatts, Patty Loveless, Josh Turner, Jamie O'Neal, Nicole C. Mullen, and Mandy Barnett.

Interested?

Drop off a demo complete with three to four original songs, a short biography, and a photograph to The Recording Academy by April 13th.
