Brief Description of Company: Entertainment Media Relations company handling artists and related companies

Ideal candidate will…(list of attributes and skills):  Ideal candidate will be tenacious, have some experience in the industry (previous internship or excelled at classes pertaining to industry), have excellent writing skills with knowledge of AP style guide (will provide one in office), have excellent phone skills, and above all be dependable and honest.

PERFORMANCE TASKS: During this internship, the student will… (list of tasks, responsibilities and potential projects): Daily Tasks Include: Add and update contacts in database, pull editorial calendars and media lists, create and service media alerts, help draft press releases and other press materials, help answer phones, help create weekly client reports.

INTERNSHIP OUTCOMES: At the end of this internship, the student will be able to… (list of learning objectives): They will gain an understanding of the daily tasks of an entertainment publicist, such as maintaining media contacts, accessing editorial calendars and contacts, pitching to developing and maintaining industry relationships, writing press materials and client reports.

Brief Description of Company: Shake ‘Em Up Music (SEU) is an independently-owned and operated music publishing company that was established in 1999, by Shar’n Clark. Our company is a fully committed business providing services unequaled to none. SEU seeks to exploit  catalog of songs for song placements, production clearances for project, copyright assistance, licensing, royalty collections.   Recorded music is marketed and promoted across an array of formats and platforms. SEU administers copyrights and musical compositions for use in recordings, public performance and related uses such as films and advertisements.  We have a useful knowledge of the music business and the clients we represent have had successful song placement.

Ideal candidate will…(list of attributes and skills): Ideal candidate will have some working knowledge of the music business. Candidate should have understanding and able to use: 1). Microsoft office (word, excel, powerpoint, etc), all of these applications are PC based. 2). Student should overall like all genres of music, but mainly the company is based in Nashville therefore an understanding of country and contemporary christian music, (or at least want to learn about these genres). 3). Able to work independently and represent SEU with professionalism.

PERFORMANCE TASKS: During this internship, the student will… (list of tasks, responsibilities and potential projects): Student will assist in the creative elements of a music publishing company;  Marketing and song placements with artists, managers, record labels, music supervisors and other venues of plugging, either through attending meetings and or mp3 pitches.  Student will assist in administrative duties: preparing  Music licensing, Royalty Statements, Copyright registrations, PRO registrations (songs and artist performances), Catalog management

INTERNSHIP OUTCOMES: At the end of this internship, the student will be able to… (list of learning objectives): Student should have a greater knowledge of the inter-workings of a music publishing company.   Student will be able to issue licensing, royalty statements, accounting, copyright registrations, etc.   Student will have been introduced to music industry decision makers either through face-to-face meetings and or through internet interactions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Student must not have “pet-allergies.” Student must be willing to come to a private resident office located off Old Hickory Blvd. in the Brentwood/Antioch area. Schedule can be very flexible.

Christian Deliverance Center Church

Back 40 Entertainment

Brief Description of Company: Back 40 Entertainment is an artist management company that represents actors and musicians, Lennon & Maisy (from the TV show, “Nashville”).

Ideal candidate will…(list of attributes and skills): Quick-learner, hard-worker, detail-oriented, good writer, & a self-starter; It would ideal for the student to be good with technology/computers and various programs (i.e.: photoshop, iMovie).

PERFORMANCE TASKS: During this internship, the student will… (list of tasks, responsibilities and potential projects): This internship will include a wide variety of responsibilities and tasks. It will include tasks such as managing the artists’ filming schedule, social media and website. The student will be doing media outreach, writing e-blasts, news items, and registering songs with P.R.O.’s. No day is ever the same as the one before.

INTERNSHIP OUTCOMES: At the end of this internship, the student will be able to… (list of learning objectives): At the end of the internship, the student will have learned the importance of time management and improved their verbal and written communication. They will have gained firsthand experience in the music industry working closely with the artists and their small team doing a wide variety of tasks/projects.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: We are looking for an unpaid intern starting asap; however, since it is an unpaid internship and is probably too late to receive summer credit, we can begin the student’s internship in the Fall.

Starplex Sound & Productions

Brief Description of Company:  Working with me to install new digital console and in general get the studio back up and going. I have a lot of studio work I can get as soon as I’m ready with the studio. When the studio is up and running the Intern will start drawing income. I have been an engineer and record producer for over 50 years and have recording some of the biggest names in the business. I also have built some of the biggest Studios in the country which this knowledge will be a great value to any Intern.  Looking for a sound engineer to train and mentor to.

Ideal candidate will…(list of attributes and skills): Be a practicing Christian, a non-smoker and a clean-cut All-American.  Needs some knowledge of Logic Software and Digital Consoles.

PERFORMANCE TASKS: During this internship, the student will… (list of tasks, responsibilities and potential projects): Installing new digital console, some acoustical work and over all make ready for recording as well as helping put together a rhythm section.

INTERNSHIP OUTCOMES: At the end of this internship, the student will be able to… (list of learning objectives): To conduct a full-blown session from scratch to mix down.

Brief Description of Company: Established touring christian music band of 12 years.

Ideal candidate will…(list of attributes and skills):   Be available on most Thursday-Sundays for travel/shows.  Be willing to do manual labor/heavy lifting.  Be knowledgeable of audio and lighting production.

PERFORMANCE TASKS: During this internship, the student will… (list of tasks, responsibilities and potential projects):  Help in assisting set up and tear down of live production i.e. audio, lighting, etc at shows/summer festivals.  During Performance assist in production tasks.
