In the very near future you will no longer need to ask customers for their full SSN/TIN in order to identify their Banner record.
As of 11-26-07 new Banner person and non person records will be assigned a "B Number" as ID. We are referring to this new ID as the BUid. On 12-26-07 all remaining Banner records identified by SSN in the ID field will be converted to BUids. SSN will still be stored in the appropriate SSN/SIN/TIN field, but SSN will not be assigned as ID.
