RE: Sony Battery Recall for R52 and R60 models
IBM is asking all laptop purchasers of selected models R52 and R60 sold since February 2005 to check their laptop battery. While it is very unlikely that your battery is affected it is recommended you follow the procedure to remove your battery and check the serial number on the IBM/Lenova web site to see if it part of the recall. Please read the recall notice below and access the link to check your laptop. There are detailed instructions on how to remove your
battery and enter in the code on the Lenovo web site to see if your battery needs to be replaced.

Official Recall Notice
Dear Lenovo Customer,
Lenovo and the IBM Corporation are voluntarily recalling approximately 526,000 lithium-ion batteries worldwide that were manufactured by Sony Corporation.
The batteries were sold in ThinkPad(R) notebooks or as replacement batteries between February 2005 and September 2006. Lenovo has confirmed that these batteries may be subject to overheating, posing a potential fire hazard, and is advising customers to check if they are using one of them. Lenovo will provide free replacements for all recalled batteries.
