Belmont Increases Pharmacy Faculty with 8 New Appointments

Belmont University’s School of Pharmacy welcomed eight new faculty members this fall as the school continues its growth toward the goal of enrolling 300 students by 2011. Seventy-four new students enrolled in the PharmD program last week, bringing total enrollment to about 225.
The School of Pharmacy moved into McWhorter Hall, a new state-of-the-art facility several weeks ago, expanding classroom and lab space for the entry level doctoral program. The School remains on track in its effort to gain full accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) once it has graduated its first class in 2012 and met all accreditation standards.


The new faculty members include the following individuals:
BooziotisSmall.jpgDr. Kristy Booziotis has completed residencies in internal medicine at University Medical Center at Brackenridge, affiliated with the University of Texas at Austin and Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis. She is a graduate of Butler University School of Pharmacy.
BryantSmall.jpgDr. Ronda Bryant was most recently Senior Pharmacist at Bradley Extended Care in Nashville and will be the new university community pharmacy manager. Dr. Bryant comes to Belmont with over 8 years of pharmacy management experience plus 3 years of service as a pharmacy officer in the United States Navy. Dr. Bryant is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy.
CampbellSmall.jpgDr. Hope Campbell comes from Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she served as continuing education administrator since 2005 and clinical pharmacy practitioner since 2001. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. Dr. Campbell has a background in investigational drugs and clinical research.
FranksSmall.jpgDr. Rachel Franks was assistant clinical professor at the University of Florida Area Health Education Program prior to coming to Belmont. She is a graduate of the Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy at Palm Beach Atlantic University and completed her residency in ambulatory care.
HaganSmall.jpgDr. Angela Hagan holds a PhD from the Department of Clinical, Social and Administrative Sciences at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Michigan. She obtained her BS in Biology and Chemistry from the college of Arts and Sciences at the University of Toledo, as well as her Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
PooleSmall.jpgDr. Traci Poole was a clinical instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy. Dr. Poole is a graduate of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy and completed a Community Pharmacy Practice residency there.
ReedSmall.jpgDr. Kenneth Reed comes out of the pharmaceutical industry where he has over 20 years of experience in drug research and development. Dr. Reed’s interest is in ophthalmic dosage forms, is widely published in the pharmaceutical sciences literature, and holds several patents. He received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Nebraska.
WilliamsSmall.jpgDr. Montgomery Williams completed a Pharmacy Practice residency at Missions Hospital in Asheville, NC and is a graduate of the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy.
The School of Pharmacy is part of the Gordon E. Inman College of Health Sciences & Nursing at Belmont University. Other schools and programs within the College include the Schools of Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy as well as the Social Work Department. The College educates future health professionals with a rigorous clinical-based curriculum and state-of-the-art technology and laboratories housed in a health science complex that includes the Gordon E. Inman Building and the newly constructed McWhorter Hall.
