Everyone who comes to New York City has different expectations and plans for their stay. On the Town is the tale of three sailors on a 24-hour leave from their ship docked in this fabulous city. Admission is $5 for Belmont faculty and staff. Additional performances are on April 4 at 7:30 p.m. as well as on April 5 at 2:30 p.m.

Government and the Arts: What Is the Proper Role?
President Obama's recent consideration of establishing a cabinet-level position for the promotion of the arts has sparked a debate regarding the proper role between the state and the artist. David Smith, professor of history at Baylor University and author of the book Money for Art: The Tangled Web of Art and Politics in American Democracy, has recently appeared on NPR and in the Wall Street Journal on the subject.

College of Arts & Science Week Keynote Address
Todd Turner, the only director of athletics who served as AD in four of the six BCS Conferences, led sport teams from UConn, NC State, Vanderbilt and the University of Washington to both academic success and national rankings. An advocate for students, Turner championed Student-Athlete LifeSkills programs and Incentives for NCAA Institutions that boasted strong graduation rates of student-athletes. He will be speaking on “The Scholar-Athlete: How is it Truly Possible in an American Education System in which Sport is King?”
