IT'S ALL BELMONT TO ME - Belmont FYI Feature Profile of the Month

Make it Seamless

MattWhitman005.jpgMathew Whitman was chosen as April’s “It’s All Belmont to Me” recipient for exemplifying the fourth guiding principle – “Make it Seamless.” Matt is a Belmont alumnus, and he has worked in the Office of Communications as a copy center associate since January 2007. One of the things he enjoys most about his job is the diversity of his work.

“I really enjoy getting to interact with the many people who work with the Office of Communications and the Copy Center,” said Matt. “We have a wide variety of clients working on a broad spectrum of things, so everyone has a story to tell.”

Matt was nominated for his efforts to “make it seamless” in his job, and he says that he strives to do this daily by being aware of the people he works with and the many different needs of the office’s clients, as well as by trying to be as efficient as possible.

“I am the front desk for both the Office of Communications and the Copy Center, so I am often the first person people meet when they come to the office. Whether or not these people have come to meet with someone, make copies or have a problem, I am who they often go through,” said Matt.

Matt also says that it’s important to remember that staff members are the face of Belmont. “From senior leadership to administrative assistants, we all play an important role in the perception of the university.”
