The feminist art movement of the 1970s profoundly influenced contemporary art practices and shifted the ascribed roles of women in the visual arts. Students in the seminar on Women Artists Throughout History will explore the topic of representations of women by male and female artists before and after the feminist movement in order to trace those changes.

Making Conservation Work for People
Dr. Peter Kareiva, chief scientist for The Nature Conservancy, advocates a conservation approach that provides resources for human health and survival while at the same time protecting species and ecosystems. As co-founder and director of the Natural Capital Project, Kareiva seeks ways to place monetary values on the ecosystem services that nature provides. An opening reception will be held from 5:30 - 6:45 p.m. in the Frist Lecture Hall.
