Spring Break Missions Trips
This year a team of 28 health science students traveled to Guatemala City for a Spring Break medical mission trip. The team includes occupational therapy students, physical therapy students, faculty, clinicians, a speech therapist, an interpreter and a guiding member of the Shalom Foundation, which is an organization that sends several missions to Guatemala every year. Click here to read the blog from this trip.

In addition, University Ministries has several teams serving during Spring Break. Team Chicago is partnering with Cornerstone Community Outreach to work with the homeless community through food & clothing distribution, as well as working in a local shelter. Team Pine Ridge, South Dakota is partnering with Greater Works Ministry to serve the community of the Oglala Sioux Nation. Students are building relationships with the Oglala Sioux community, serving in the ministry center and working in the community garden. Team New York is partnering with Graffiti Ministries to work with inner city children and youth and homeless. Team Columbus, Ga. is partnering with Habitat for Humanity to help with various construction projects. And finally, Team Jamaica is partnering with ACE Ministries, a non-profit organization whose focus is to help America’s youth develop positive leadership skills by providing them with unique opportunities to share their talents and resources with people in developing countries.
