Homecoming Highlight: Art From Anywhere
hc_2009_bruiser_convert_VB.jpg"Art from Anywhere" is a new homecoming event celebrating the visual arts. This year selected Belmont alumni from the Middle Tennessee area are exhibiting their professional photography, paintings and three-dimensional works in the Leu Center for the Visual Arts. The exhibit will open with a 10 a.m. Opening Reception on Mon., Feb. 23 and will feature works by Bob Schatz (’77), Matt Chenoweth (’07), Margaret Elliott (’05), Ann Sharp Street (WB ’45) and various artists from the project “Quote.”

"Quote: The Pace of Our Feet" is multi-media project based around the songwriting of duo Justin Tam (‘06) and Jamie Bennett. The project, packaged in the form of a book, contains an album of "Quote" tunes as well as a corresponding work of art and short story for each song created by visual artists and authors. Twelve Belmont alumni were involved in this creative collaboration. In addition, the editorial work for the book was conducted by Dr. Maggie Monteverde. A convo will be held on Mon., Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. in the Leu Center for the Visual Arts, Room 117 and will feature a live performance of the music from “Quote” as well as a discussion of the art and literary components.
