DEBATE08 PHOTOS OF THE WEEK

The 2008 Town Hall Presidential Debate at Belmont University
Debate08 excitement kicked into high gear last Saturday with the arrival on campus of the Red Bull Soccer Team, an appropriate symbol of the caffeine that was about to be consumed by all those working the 2008 Town Hall Presidential Debate. Throughout Fall Break the campus was abuzz as volunteers prepared for the arrival of visiting media and dignitaries.

CBS News' Bob Schieffer made a notable splash at Sunday night's special Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman, performing onstage with his band Honky Tonk Confidential and backup singers Little Lulu and Sister Hot Stuff. Other performers for the evening included Belmont alumni Brad Paisley, Trisha Yearwood, Josh Turner and Julie Roberts along with a guest appearance by Darius Rucker.

Country artists weren't the only ones in the spotlight this week as Belmont students were interviewed by local and national media who were on campus for the debate. Meanwhile, Denver and the Mile Orchestra, another band consisting of numerous Belmont alums, kept the crowds entertained Tuesday night at Belmont's Official Debate Watch Party.

The activity on campus, however, was the real focus of attention as Senators John McCain and Barack Obama debated the issues in the Curb Event Center and their supporters provided commentary for the media in Spin Alley.
