Do It Right
This week’s Belmont FYI feature profile of the week has been a part of the Belmont community for nearly five years. Dr. Jeff Cornwall was nominated for the third guiding principle – Do It Right – for his work as Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship.
What Jeff enjoys most about his job is working with student entrepreneurs. “Their enthusiasm and optimism are inspiring,” Jeff said.
For Jeff, to do it right means to provide students with honest feedback on what it will take to make their dreams a reality. “Students come to me with their business ideas, and I would like to be a cheerleader to them. Their enthusiasm is contagious,” Jeff said. “But instead, I try to find every possible flaw or hole in their idea. They know when they come to me that this is what they will get, honest feedback on their dreams.”
Jeff said that he knows that entrepreneurship is a risky endeavor and tries to help students learn how to reduce the risk in their business ideas.
