What is your favorite type of exercise? i.e. Group Fitness Cardio or weight training.
Cardio is my favorite type of exercise. I know that lifting weights is also very important to staying fit and healthy, so I do try to keep up with weight lifting along with my cardio workouts. I really enjoy the elliptical over the stationary bike and/or treadmill.

Have you noticed a difference in yourself?
Before I was pregnant, I was definitely able to see a difference in myself when I would work out consistently. In fact, the couple of months prior to me finding out I was pregnant, my husband and I had been jogging at a trail near our house several days a week. We were working at increasing our time and our distance. Since I have never been a very good long-distance runner, I was thrilled that I had gotten up to running three straight miles before having to stop to walk. Once I found out I was pregnant, the doctor told me to stop jogging and recommended the elliptical since it is not as hard on my body.

With such a busy schedule how do you fit healthy living in?
That has been a struggle for me ever since I got married over four years ago. When I was single, I would work out every day after work for about two hours. Now that I am married, along with my busy work schedule, my goal is to work out four-five days a week for about 45 minutes to an hour. I recognize that I cannot spend as much time at the gym now that I have a family to make time for after work. It is very easy to use the excuse that you just don’t have enough time to work out because of your busy life and schedule – but, to me it is just like making time for the Lord. When you count it a priority and essential to your overall well being, you will find the time.

Belmont University and Beaman Center Featured
The February 2008 issue of Fitness Business News, a journal dedicated to coverage of fitness and recreation news, featured an article about the 22nd Birthday of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA). The article focuses heavily on Caroline Cox, graduate assistant for group fitness at Belmont. Belmont has one of the largest celebrations of any university annually, with activities stating at 6 a.m. and continuing until 11 p.m. This year's National Recreational Sports and Fitness Day was a huge success and reached over 1,200 students, faculty, and staff, with more than 900 people participating in at least one fitness event.
