IT'S ALL BELMONT TO ME - Belmont FYI Feature Profile of the Week
Show We Care
This week’s Belmont FYI feature profile of the week has been a part of the Belmont community for three years. Bryan Hayse was nominated for the first guiding principle – Show We Care – for his work as Assistant Director of Residence Life.
What Bryan enjoys most about his job is the lack of predictability. “On top of that, the people with whom I work the closest genuinely care about the students we serve and are always pushing to make Belmont a better place” Bryan said. “This combination helps to keep me on my toes and motivate me in even the most mundane aspects of my job.”
For Bryan, to show he cares means treating every person as an individual. “To me, ‘Show We Care’ means putting yourself in another’s shoes and trying to genuinely understand their point of view.” Bryan said. “Ultimately, the decision that is made needs to both further the development of the student as well as uphold Belmont’s values and commitments.” Bryan also said that his goal is to balance being empathetic to student/parent needs with decisions that he feels will benefit the student most in the long term.
