IT'S ALL BELMONT TO ME- Belmont FYI Feature Profile of the Week

Walk the Talk

P1020171.JPGThis week’s Belmont FYI feature profile of the week has been a part of the Belmont community for seven years. Merrie King was nominated for the fifth guiding principle, "Walk the Talk," for her work as Associate Professor and Montessori Program Director in the Department of Education.

What Merrie enjoys most about her job is being an integral part of a community of learning, faith and service. "I believe it is important to create spaces for individuals to grow within the larger community," Merrie said. “The characteristics of these spaces include hospitality and full presence.” Merrie also says that she tries to extend both of these principles within her classes, in conversations with staff, students and colleagues and in contact with guests and visitors.

For Merrie, to walk the talk means living out or being in alignment with her values and beliefs. She is grateful for the gifts of knowledge, diversity, compassion and inspiration she receives on a daily basis at Belmont.
