Take Responsibility and Follow Through

Amy Coles FYI.jpgThis week’s Belmont FYI feature profile of the week has been a part of the Belmont community for six years. Amy Coles was nominated for the second guiding principle – Take Responsibility and Follow Through – for her work as Director of Student Activities.

What Amy enjoys most about her job is the opportunity to work with students. “Every year at commencement, I am reminded why I do what I do,” Amy said. “Watching those students walk across the stage and begin the new chapter of their lives is the greatest reward.” Amy says she also feels blessed to work with such wonderful people and in an atmosphere of empowerment and creativity.

For Amy, to take responsibility and follow through means it is important to go above and beyond her job description. “Achieving excellence in all I do means I want to be available for people even when it doesn’t fit within my actual job description, and it is always my desire to do whatever it takes to serve and assist those around me to the fullest,” she said. “I think that is why Belmont is such a great community; we all take care of one another, even when that means that we have to step away from our to-do lists to lend an ear or a helping hand.”
