Important Announcement: Instant Alert
Belmont Launches Instant Alert Program
In order to enhance Belmont’s ability to communicate with students, faculty and staff in the event of a campus emergency, the university has launched a new instant alert text messaging system. This optional service will only be used in the event of an on-campus emergency, an unscheduled university closing or a delay or cancellation of classes due to, for instance, severe weather. There is no charge to register for this service although standard text messaging rates apply.
Registration is quick, easy and can be done either online or via text messaging:
1) Text Messaging
Text the word Belmont to 27538. In reply, you will receive a welcome message which indicates a successful sign-up.
2) Online
Sign in to your account on bic.belmont.edu and look for the Instant Alert message (under My Campus and Academic Department Messages). Click on the link provided, and you will be directed to the instant alert Web site. After submitting your information, you will receive a text message which indicates a successful sign-up.
This instant alert text messaging service is just one of the methods the university will use to communicate critical information to students, faculty and staff. We will continue to use a variety of other methods as appropriate including email, voicemail, BIC, the news headlines on www.belmont.edu and the Belmont University news line at 460-5000. For further assistance, contact the Office of Communications at communication@mail.belmont.edu.
