Walk the Talk
This week’s Belmont FYI Feature Profile of the Week may be newer to campus but quite certainly is not a stranger to many. McLean Collins joined Belmont's Office of Development nearly one year ago as Associate Director of Annual Giving. He was nominated for the fifth guiding principle - "Walk the Talk" - for the enthusiasm and care he brings to his job.
McLean came to Belmont because he wanted to be a part of a community where he could make a difference. He says he understands the importance of his job to Belmont, and he and the Development team seek to raise funds for the betterment of the university.
"I have good examples here at Belmont,” McLean said. “We in the Development Office look at our job to nurture relationships, because the more resources we can raise for Belmont, the better off we all are.”
McLean and his colleagues in the Development Office "walk the talk" by treating every request and need equally. The Office of Development is often the face of the university to multiple constituencies, and it is important they be responsive and attentive to everyone they encounter. "Our job is based on long-term investments,” he said. “Something I do today could pay off years down the road for Belmont.”
