Coming Up


Fiesta Belmont: Nashville's Latin Music Street Fair, is Saturday, April 1. The street fair features a day-long schedule of continuous Latin music performances, Latin food vendors, kid’s activities, and Latin dance groups. Admission to the event, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in central campus, is free.

Belmont University's 6th Annual Family Literacy Day, will take place on Saturday, April 1 from 1-4 p.m. The event, called Read With Me, is aimed at children from pre-K through grade 6 and their families and is designed to celebrate the joys of reading. Location: lawn between Wright/Maddox; rain location: Belmont Heights Church Fellowship Hall.

Vanderbilt University professor Nancy Reisman will be reading from her debut novel, The First Desire, on April 5, 7 p.m., Belmont Mansion. Reisman’s previous book, a collection of short stories entitled House Fires, won the 1999 Iowa Short Fiction Award. She has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center; her fiction has been published in such anthologies and publications as The O. Henry Prize Stories 2005, Best American Short Stories 2001, Tin House, and The Kenyon Review.

Join Belmont for a university-wide celebration weekend on April 7-9, 2006. Parents, family, alumni and friends will all be on campus for a weekend of fun and entertainment. Highlights of the weekend include the Belmont Classic Golf Tournament, Musical Theatre Performance of Cats, and the annual President's Cookout and Baseball Game at Greer Stadium.
