Belmont Men Advance in A-Sun Tournament With Win Over Campbell
Winner of A-Sun Tournament Gets Automatic Bid to NCAA Tournament
Belmont's men's basketball team defeated Campbell University 90-74 in the opening round of the 2006 General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Conference Men’s Basketball Championship at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn., Thursday afternoon to advance to the Friday semifinal. The winner of the A-Sun Tournament gets an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. Belmont next plays in the semifinal game at 8:15 p.m. central time Friday against the winner of the Florida Atlantic vs. Stetson quarterfinal game. The game will be televised on CSS (Nashville cable channel 27) and also can be heard on 104.5 The Zone (WGFX-FM).
