BELMONT NEWS

Belmont University Launches New Web Site
NewHomePage.jpgBelmont University launched a new look today for its home page, www.BELMONT.edu. Designed in house by Creative Services and implemented by ITS and University Marketing, the Web site offers significant improvements in appearance and functionality.
April Maglothin, Creative Services Supervisor, said, “We wanted to capture the uniqueness of the Belmont community with our design. Every bit of research showed us what we already knew: the Belmont community is unique and innovative, so our Web site deserves to be too. The higher education market is full of traditional Web design, and there’s good reason for it… but we’re Belmont. We didn’t want to settle for a completely traditional design; we wanted everyone who visits to see that we’re different from other colleges and universities.”
Complete with a new look, streamlined navigation and easy-to-find university highlights, Belmont’s updated site features video highlights, rotating informational boxes, a comprehensive search option and direct links to Belmont’s social media presence. Read more….

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Final Belmont FYI of 2010
This is the final Belmont FYI newsletter of 2010. The next issue will be published Fri., Jan. 7, 2011. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Human Resources Reminds Campus of Holiday Policy
The Belmont campus will not close during the Christmas holidays except for Thurs., Dec. 23, Fri., Dec. 24 and Fri., Dec. 31. Each staff employee can take an additional three Christmas holidays during the week before or after Christmas with the approval of their supervisor. Any requests for closing for an office/department/building must be approved through the respective Senior Leader. Click here for the 2011 Holiday Schedule.
In the spirit of giving, Human Resources would ask staff and faculty who receive paid leave to consider donating one day to the catastrophic leave bank. Last year, we had several employees with serious medical conditions and flood victims who received additional paid leave through the catastrophic leave bank. You only need to donate one vacation day (during your entire employment) so that you are also eligible to receive catastrophic leave if you have a serious medical condition. Click here for the donation form.
Outdoor Pursuits Presents ‘OP Kidz Klimb Competition 2011’
You and your children are invited to join Belmont University Outdoor Pursuits for our inaugural Kidz Klimb Competition on January 15, 2011 at 2 p.m. This fun event will be an extension of our Kidz Klimb program and will gather all of the participants in the program together at one time to meet each other, win some fun door prizes, eat pizza and, of course, climb!
The competition will start at 2 p.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. After the competition all participants are invited to attend as the Belmont University Bruins women’s and men’s basketball teams take on Campbell University in the Curb Event Center. As an extra reward for participating, Belmont Athletics will announce the participants of the competition at halftime of the Men’s and Women’s Basketball game!
Staff members will be allotted the usual two free tickets for the Basketball games and will also be allowed to purchase additional tickets for $1 each.
The cost for the climbing event is five dollars ($5), and as always climbing equipment is free. Children who wish to climb must be at least six years of age and have a parent or legal guardian sign a liability form.
