Music Business Professor Volman Talks About Life in Pop Music
Mark Volman, a professor in the Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business, was recently profiled in the Treasure Coast Palm about his life as a member of the ’60s pop band, The Turtles (“So Happy Together”), and Frank Zappa’s band, Mothers of Invention, in the ’70s. Belmont Faculty Quoted in The Tennessean
Two Belmont faculty members were recently quoted in separate stories in The Tennessean. Dr. Andi Stepnick, chair of the sociology department, was interviewed for a story that ran in the Sunday edition of the paper about the rising popularity of family reunions. Jose Gonzalez, an adjunct entrepreneurship instructor in Belmont’s College of Business Administration, was quoted in a story that ran Monday. Gonzalez spoke about the popularity of certain types of businesses on Nashville’s Nolensville Road.

Mullen Vies For Spot On Baseball Team
Rising Belmont senior Erin Mullen, a member of Belmont’s softball team, is one of 30 women who will vie for a spot on the National Team at the USA Baseball Team Trials this weekend. She is one of only two current collegiate softball players to earn a spot on the trials roster. NCAA.com profiled Mullen and her quest for a spot on the team.

Hundreds of new international students are arriving in the Nashville area this fall who would like to have an American friend. Belmont rising senior Kate Austin has been named to the All-American Scholar Team as announced by the National Golf Coaches Association Monday morning. It is the first time that a Belmont golfer has been honored with this award. [To read more, click here.]
Kelly Interviews McEntire
Belmont alum Hunter Kelly (’03) recently interviewed country music star Reba McEntire at the Las Vegas Hilton. Kelly is the Nashville producer for ABC radio.
Alumnus Leads Worship for Beth Moore
Belmont alumnus Travis Cottrell is leading worship for popular Bible teacher and author Beth Moore at her “Living Proof” events. Cottrell was nominated in 2006 for a Dove Award and has arranged and produced music for Christian publisher Lifeway Music Group. He recently signed with Indelible Creative Group and is working on a solo album this summer.
Walter Interns With Blender, Conan O’Brien
