Massey is excited to bring in its new wave of Graduate Assistants this fall as well as welcome back those returning! Meet Maria Lunga, Arlena Marie Elliott, Courtney Guidal, Kendall Sowell, Caroline Phillips, and Eric Jones.
Maria Lungu is originally from Zambia and excited to concentrate her MBA in Music Business and Business Intelligence. Growing up in Botswana, Maria moved to Switzerland for a year to attend Aiglon College before moving to the United States. Following, she attended the University of Charleston and graduated cum laude with a double major in Finance and Business Administration with a minor in Leadership. Additionally, Maria is a proud member of the University of Tennessee College of Law graduate class of 2016. While in law school, she served as a member of the National Trial Team and the Frederick Douglass Moot Court team and was recognized by UT Law and UT Center for Leadership and Service for outstanding service to her community. After graduation, she joined the Nashville Defender’s office and served as an Assistant Public Defender in the General Sessions courts. With classes just starting for Maria, she is most looking forward to learning from the distinguished Massey faculty and her diverse colleagues to gain experience that she can combine with her recent law degree. Upon completion of her MBA in August 2018, Maria hopes to use her MBA and a law degree to work for a record label as counsel. Ultimately, with a background as a Research Assistant to three distinguished professors and recipient of the Scholarly and Research Incentive Funds (“SARIF”), Massey is looking forward to Maria joining the Graduate Assistant team this fall!
By way of Columbus, GA, Arlena Marie Elliott joins the AMBA class of 2018 and plans to concentrate her MBA in Marketing. Arlena recently obtained her Bachelor’s in Marketing from Columbus State University and brings ample work experience centered around social media marketing to this year’s Graduate Assistant team. Eager to take on opportunities that the AMBA program offers, Arlena is looking forward to the experience that the program offers as a whole, from the small cohort and learning from her peers to interning and getting hands-on work experience. More so, she is excited to become a valuable member of the Belmont family. Ideally, after completion of her MBA, Arlena would like to work in a Marketing or Public Relations position that would allow her to grow within a company over time and if lucky, travel as well. Massey is lucky to bring Arlena on as a Graduate Assistant this Fall!
Courtney Guidal, member of the AMBA class of 2018 is concentrating in Business Intelligence. The new Graduate Assistant joins Belmont from Warwick, Rhode Island, and graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2015 with dual degrees in Accounting and Communications & Media Studies. She has worked for two years for Providence Sports and Entertainment Agency and the Providence Bruins (AHL Affiliate for the Boston Bruins) in Providence, RI. Courtney is most looking forward to building strong, professional relationships at the Massey School, and can’t wait to contribute all that she learned from her work experience thus far. More so, she is eager to learn from the diverse backgrounds of other students and staff. Ideally, after graduation in August 2018, Courtney is interested in working in the Sports and Entertainment Industry, mainly in a Marketing role and feels lucky that Nashville is the hub for Sports and Entertainment!
Also a member of the AMBA class of 2018, Kendall Sowell joins the Massey Graduate School of Business from Hendersonville, TN. She graduated from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville in May 2017 with a major in Marketing and International Business and a minor in Economics and plans to continue her International Business studies through concentrating in International Business here at Belmont. Within Kendall’s time at Massey, she is looking forward to meeting her classmates and professors who have various work experiences as well as seeing how that translates when in the classroom. Additionally, Kendall is excited to get more hands-on experience with an internship and since her concentration is in international business, she is also highly anticipating the study abroad trip next spring! Post-graduation, she’d like to use her degree to work for a global CPG company as a brand manager with integrated international business relations.
Caroline Phillips joins Massey’s MACC class of 2018 from Church Hill, TN. With a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Spanish, she is looking forward to being intellectually challenged by excellent faculty. Similarly, Caroline is looking forward to connecting with peers with the same career focus and overall bettering herself both personally and professionally. Caroline’s goal is to work for a Big 4 Accounting Firm after graduation in 2018.
