I am flattered that Chasing the Dragon's Tale has been nominated in the 2004 Edublog Awards for Best Newcomer (2004). I fully expect all four of my regular readers to click here to vote and vault CDT out of obscurity. Please understand, with this award in hand, plus $4.00 of my own money, I should be able to buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks!
Chasing the Dragon's Tale started with selfish motives. In large part, blogging is the tool that I selected to do preliminary research on the broad topic of generational gaps among educators as they relate to the speed of technological advances... particularly the arena of personal computers and the Internet. That journey continues toward a goal of narrowing the subject down to something manageable for a master's thesis project of some description. What I have discovered are more tools, more resources, innumerable relevant news articles, a few on-line tangents, and a sizeable number of community-minded educators with interests in blogging.
Honestly, I had high expectations that I would be able to attract throngs of people, generate tons comments and trackbacks, and locate collaborators in this field. That expectation vanished early. The learning experience for me has been more a matter of the marathon-like-discipline over the last 9 months to find current sources and to reflect on how those reports relate to my general topic. It has become more apparent to me that blogging is THE most appropriate tool to tackle the moving target of generational gaps in educational technology, since blogging is a native to the very environment where many educators find technological challenges.
All that being said, I appreciate you reading this far... and don't forget to vote (and vote often...'just kidding) :)
