Women Family Business CEO's More Socially Responsive

A study sponsored by MassMutual and the Raymond Institute on women in family-owned businesses reports that women CEO's of family businesses give a higher proportion of their company resources to charity than their male counterparts. Much of their giving is targeted on community and educational charities.

I found this article to be very enlightening. I think women today are encouraged to enter the business world. Slowly women are gaining the equal business group that they are due.
I understand why women have more of a philanthropic attitude when running a business. Women like to help people so it is only natural for women to reach out to communities that need help. I found it very satisfying that the report stated that women have greater productivity rates over men. I think women are for the most part more creative in getting the job done.

I am a woman business owner of a web design company called www.appealmedia.com. I have to agree that many women tend to feel the need to give. However, my husband (and partner) is extremely giving. I think he would do 90% of our clients websites for free! However, we (Appeal Media) has agreed to do several projects pro-bono per year so that we may help those in need. A current site we are working on is for a mother who approached us who had lost her small daughter to cancer. She quit her great job to pursue helping other families who are going through the nightmare that she did. Helping others gives us a great feeling of worth. After all, money is just money. But truly helping others is really what it's all about!
