The deadline to see Shakespeare's plays at the Blackfriars Theatre Oct. 9-11 has been extended to Sept. 16. Over the weekend of Oct 9-11, Belmont is taking a group to the Blackfriars Theatre in Staunton, Va., to see the American Shakespeare Center's performances of Much Ado About Nothing, Henry IV part one, and George Villiers' The Rehearsal. The theatre is a reconstruction of Blackfriars, Shakespeare's smaller indoor theatre where he produced plays in the latter part of his career. The company itself attempts to recreate the original practices of Shakespeare's stage. This is high quality theatre in a beautiful setting. Total cost is $180 for transportation, tickets to all three shows, a theatre tour, and lodging (half of a double room). Meals are reasonable in town.
