FYS Book Announced, Nominations for FYS Film Series Due Feb. 27

Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals has been chosen as the FYS common book for 2009-10 by faculty members teaching the First-Year Seminar. Thank you to Kim Boggs, Department of Chemistry and Physics, for nominating this wonderful book. We would also like to thank the FYS Book Selection Committee (Ann Coble, Annette Sisson, Dan Schafer, Diane Monahan, Jeff Coker, Jimmy Davis, Mary Thompson, Ken Spring and Regine Schwarzmeier) for their time and effort in this process.

Second, as in previous years, we invite all members of the Belmont community―faculty, staff and students― to nominate a film to be included in the First-Year Seminar film series for 2009-10. All nominations must thoughtfully and thoroughly address the two questions in the attached document. Please email your completed nominations to Jennifer Wells (wellsjf@mail.belmont.edu) in the Office of General Education by 5 p.m. on Fri., Feb. 27.

Questions? Please contact Dr. Ken Spring (springk@mail.belmont.edu) or Dr. Regine Schwarzmeier (schwarzmeierr@mail.belmont.edu).

We eagerly await your nominations!
