New Blasting Information

As blasting continues for the construction of a new building and underground garage, Belmont University officials want to ensure the safest possible environment for all students, employees and guests. Belmont security officers and construction personnel will continue to block pedestrian and vehicular routes around the site during blasting. Those efforts will now be expanded to move individuals away from windows near the blast site.

All windows with a view towards the construction site in the following buildings must be cleared of people from the time of the warning horn (five and three minutes prior to the blast) until the “All Clear” is sounded at the completion of the blast:
Heron Hall
Pembroke Hall
Psychology Department Building
Inman Center
Massey Business Center

We appreciate your full cooperation with these new requirements, and thank you for your continued patience with ongoing construction. Blasting related to this project is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of March.

UNITED: FOR CHANGE KICK OFF CONCERT MONDAY

The United: For Change Kick-off concert will be Mon., Jan. 19, from 3-5 p.m. in MPAC featuring musical guests Mikeschair and Damien Horne. Personal Growth and Development Convocation will be offered.

In the minute it takes to read this letter, 27 children will have died of preventable causes when they could have been saved by a few dollars. However, many of us--especially in a struggling economy--believe we can't give enough to make a difference. Working alone can make it difficult to make an impact on overwhelming statistics. This spring UNITED: FOR CHANGE makes it possible for a small amount to have a tremendous impact.

The purpose of UNITED: FOR CHANGE is to rally college students to give their pocket change, hopefully a little over a dollar a week. There are 5,000 of us, so if we each contributed $20 total over the course of the semester, $100,000 would be raised for charities that directly assist children in our community and around the world.

This is a chance for us to come together as Belmont students to make a huge change! We will be hosting a kickoff event with a charity panel, so that you can hear specifically which projects we can support, then feature musical guests Damien Horne and Mikeschair. So join us Jan. 19, at 3 p.m. in the Massey Performing Arts Center.

Sincerely,
Joshua Maisner
Junior Marketing Major

We will board the bus at 4:30 a.m. in the lower circle (in front of Wheeler) and will return to Belmont about 10 p.m. This trip is limited to one bus and will be on a first-come basis. Beginning Jan. 1, 2009, the 2009-2010 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or Renewal FAFSA can be filed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov and signed electronically using a PIN.

A PIN is a Personal Identification Number that allows students (and parents) access to sign and correct the 2009-2010 FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA on the web. Parents must obtain a separate PIN from their student to electronically sign the FAFSA. The U.S. Department of Education will automatically send PIN mailers to first-time applicants who file a 2009-2010 FAFSA. Students who did not file a FAFSA last year or did not receive a PIN can apply online at www.PIN.ed.gov.

March 1, 2009 is Belmont University's FAFSA "Priority" filing date.

Please use Belmont University's Title IV code 003479 when completing the FAFSA.
