Freshman Invite for Friday Night's Basketball Opener

A Freshmen First! To the Class of 2012:
As freshmen, you were first initiated to Belmont's campus with Towering Traditions and Welcome Week. You've since experienced several months of university life, new independence and midterms, not to mention Debate08! You’ve become important members of the Bruin family. This Friday, you’ll have your first major opportunity to show your Bruin pride through participation in a very special event. I want to start a new tradition at Belmont, and I’ve chosen this year’s freshman class as the one to begin what will become an annual custom. On Friday, November 14, the Belmont Bruins men’s basketball team opens its regular season at home against Samford in the Curb Event Center. I’m inviting all Belmont freshmen to join the cheerleaders in bringing in our team. It’s an opportunity to make some noise, show your Bruin pride and fully engage in the Belmont spirit in front of a packed house of fellow students and community supporters.

You’ll be the first freshman class ever to participate in a "Freshmen First" welcome to Bruins’ basketball. As the largest class in Belmont’s history, I believe your excitement will open our season with an enthusiasm unlike anything seen before in the Curb Event Center. In fact, the entire day will be a celebration of Belmont Spirit with a Tailgate Party prior to the Game and a contest for the President’s Spirit Award.

All freshmen participants will meet in the Beaman lobby at 6:30 p.m. on November 14. For questions or more information, contact Amy Coles at 460-6407 or Susan West at 460-6435.

Freshmen… First on the Floor… Fire Up the Team... Fan the Flames of B.U. Spirit.

Be a Bruin!,
Bob Fisher
