September 4 Debate08 Student Update
DEBATE08 CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS & LOGISTICS
Media Tent Construction to Impact Parking, Tennis Courts
Most of the credentialed media covering the debate will be stationed in the Media Filing Center, a temporary 25,000 square foot facility that will be built on the Belmont soccer field prior to the event. Construction of this facility will begin on Mon., Sept. 8. Due to the construction, beginning Fri., Sept. 5, all cars parked in spaces around the soccer field must be moved to other areas on campus. The areas that will need to be cleared for the media tent are Acklen Avenue, E. Belmont Circle, and the spaces on soccer field drive facing the soccer field. Additional parking is available at the Thrailkill parking garage during business hours as well as the gravel lot on 12th Avenue. We’d also like to remind everyone of both the free bus (MTA) and train (RTA) services for commuting to campus as well as Belmont’s new partnership with Zipcar. In addition, in order to protect the safety of the campus community and those working on the construction, the Belmont tennis courts will be closed beginning on Monday.
Fall Break 2008 and Campus Residence Halls
Per the email sent to Belmont students on July 22, residents of Kennedy, Wright, Maddox, Hail, Pembroke and Heron Halls, as well as the New Residence Hall, must inform Residence Life by close of business on Mon., Sept. 8 of their intent to remain on campus during Fall Break. Please keep in mind that campus conditions will be greatly altered during Fall Break, including the following:
• All rooms will be subject to search, and residence hall buildings may only be accessed by students living in them.
• There will be no Food Services available on campus during the entirety of Fall Break (Oct. 4-8). The BSLC and many outdoor facilities and spaces will be unavailable for community use. University Health and Counseling Services will be closed.
• By Fri., Oct. 3 close of business, both the Curb and Inman parking garages will need to be cleared. Parking will be available at Greer Stadium with regular shuttles to campus.
