Student Ticket Lottery
More than 1,100 students entered the lottery for possible tickets to the 2008 Town Hall Presidential Debate. Belmont officials will not be informed if student tickets are available until days before the debate itself—in fact, there is no guarantee that any tickets will be available. If tickets are available, students will be offered them according to the numbers drawn this past Tuesday. Each lottery entrant will receive an email with their number listed. When Belmont is informed of ticket availability, students whose numbers fall within the ticket allotment will be contacted. Due to the quick turnaround between notification and the actual debate, students will need to respond quickly if their number falls within the Belmont allotment. The Web site MyDebates.org are providing an online platform through which anyone can submit questions which may be presented to the candidates during the Town Hall debate.

Beaman Student Life Center Information
Due to preparations for the Presidential Debate, the BSLC weight room will close Wed., Sept. 24 at 10 p.m. The BSLC Group Fitness Room, Recreational Gym, Racquetball Courts and Climbing Wall will remain open until Fri., Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. Beginning Sat., Sept. 27, the entire facility will be closed except for the Beaman lobby area, which will remain open through Tues., Sept. 30. Please visit your BIC account for information on when the Beaman Center will reopen after Fall Break.

AARP Invites Belmont to Debate Viewing Party
The Nashville chapter of AARP is inviting Belmont students, faculty and staff to an outdoor debate watch party and picnic at the Centennial Park Bandshell. There will be free food, live musical entertainment and giveaways. In addition, C-SPAN’s Campaign 2008 bus is expected to make a stop at the nonpartisan debate watch party, and WTVF Newschannel5 anchor Vicki Yates will emcee. AARP’s “Belmont at the Bandshell” event is free and open to the public. The pre-debate picnic will begin at 6:30 p.m. and a program that includes videos and live music will precede the debate, which starts at 8 p.m.
