Making Strides Against Breast Cancer: Community Service Convo Credits

Health Services is forming a team of faculty, staff, students and friends to participate in a five mile walk for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, an annual event of the American Cancer Society is to raise awareness and dollars to fight breast cancer. The event takes place on Saturday, October 25, beginning at LP Field. There is no registration fee, and two convo credits will be offered to all students who join. Registration forms are available in Health Services. More information to follow after Labor Day.

Service Corps Skyline Party

Join Belmont University's Service Corps on Sunday, August 31st from 6 - 9 pm, on the top floor of the Curb Event Center Parking Garage for food, refreshments, and live entertainment from Greg Bates, Madison Hardy, and Brett McLaughlin. Along with these great performances, Service Corps will be holding a silent auction for autographed items from Sony BMG, Capitol Records, and Universal Music Group Nashville. In addition to these great prizes, there will be a raffle to attend and work the 2009 Grammy's in Los Angeles, CA. Tickets will be $5 and all proceeds will be donated to Gilda's Club and the Mario Lemieux Foundation. Free food, great music, and an amazing cause!

"Last Day to Add Bruin Bucks or Meal Plan to your School Account"

Belmont Dining would like to inform the campus community that the last day to add Bruin Bucks or a meal plan to your student account is September 2, 2008. After that date, students are unable to add a meal plan to their account. Belmont Central can add Bruin Bucks using a Credit Card after September 2, 2008. Bruin Bucks can be used at every campus dining location, and roll over each semester.

JumpStart Weight Management Program

JumpStart is a free, four-week program designed to help you start your year off by jumpstarting your fitness. In order to track your progress, the program includes a pre- and post-assessment. Each participant will also receive a personalized exercise program, nutritional counseling and have their diet analyzed. In order to see maximum results, you must be able to meet three times per week for one hour, either Monday, Wednesday,and Friday or Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Chosen participants must be able to attend one of two mandatory meetings, either Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. or Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. Applications are available at http://forum.belmont.edu/bfitbu and can be dropped off at the Beaman Student Life Center. Applications are due on Sept. 10 by 5 p.m.

The American Academy of Pain Management will hold its 19th Annual Clinical Meeting, "Cultivating a Community of Care," in Nashville, TN, Sept. 8-11. No Parking on 15th Avenue as Metro Paves Road

Beginning Thurs., Aug. 21, Metro Public Works will be milling and re-paving 15th Avenue from Wedgewood to Ashwood Avenues. The work is scheduled to last two to three weeks. No "on-street" parking will be allowed on 15th Avenue during this time. Metro will be ticketing and towing any vehicles parked in that location. We ask that the Belmont community respect the residential permit parking on Acklen Avenue and utilize appropriate "on-campus" parking including the satellite lots located on 12th Avenue.

Cardboard Recycling on Move In Day

Each year, tons of cardboard is brought onto campus as students move into dorms. Join faculty, staff, and students from ONE, Belmont's Environment Club, to move this cardboard to recycling bins during the move-in weekend. To participate, meet Allison Berwald at the recycling truck in the gravel lot behind Wright/Maddox/Kennedy from 8 a.m.-noon on Sat., Aug. 23 and 1-3 p.m. on Sun., Aug. 24.
