Text Alert System Used for Last Night's Storms
In response to the severe weather in Middle Tennessee last night, Belmont University sent five text messages over a six-hour period to the more than 2,000 individuals who have signed up for Belmont University's Text Alert system. These messages offered information on tornado warnings in the areas surrounding campus, particularly Davidson County, as well as provided news of when those warnings had been lifted. According to a random survey conducted this morning, it appears that the majority of these messages were received within three minutes of being sent. If you are convinced that you have signed up for Belmont's Text Alert system and did not receive last night's messages, please e-mail communication@mail.belmont.edu with your name, cell phone number and carrier. If you haven't signed up for the Text Alert system, we strongly encourage you to do so now. To Sign Up for Instant Alert: Text the word Belmont (not case-sensitive) to the number 27538 or click here and fill out the form.
