Belmont Service Year Applications Now Available
Applications for 2008-2009 Belmont Service Year are now available in University Ministries. The Belmont Service Year is an opportunity for Belmont students to spend a year exploring intense community, outreach and service opportunities. There are two tracks: (1) Women may apply to live in the 15th Ave House, an intentional Christian Community. Three female students live under a common rule of life and spend up to 20 hours per week in hands-on community service, as well as act as liaisons between Belmont and the local community. Rent is paid for this opportunity. (2) Men may apply to live in Dismas House, a community of men transitioning out of prison, professional staff and student volunteers housed on Music Row. Responsibilities include nightly meals with other house residents, as well as mentoring, tutoring, etc. Belmont has enjoyed a successful partnership with Dismas and is pleased to expand that relationship to include the Belmont Service Year. A small monthly rent includes all meals as well. To pick up an application, stop by University Ministries.
