New Banner IDs to Be Assigned
When is this happening?
On Dec. 26, 2007, Administrative Computing will convert all Banner IDs from social security numbers to a randomly generated BUid.
How does this affect me?
You can expect to be asked for your BUid at any location on campus where you are currently asked for your social security number. In particular, student Bookstore charges will require your BUid.
How can I learn my BUid?
A letter containing your BUid has been mailed to either your home or local address. If you did not receive the letter, then you can still find your BUid. Keep reading for more information on this.
What strategies are in place to help me manage this change?
A) BUid display in BIC: After Dec. 26, 2007, your BUid will display upon login to your campus BIC account.
B) Stickers for your Campus ID card: To help make this transition easier, BUid stickers will be provided to place on the back of your campus ID card. You must have your campus ID card with you in order to get a sticker. Stickers for existing card holders will be available for pick up at the following locations:
Belmont Central, during regular business hours, beginning January 2
The Bookstore, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., January 7-11
Learn more about getting a sticker.
Will my barcode or magnetic stripe on my campus ID card change?
No, the barcode number on the front of your campus id card and the magnetic stripe on the back will not be affected by this change.
Why is this happening?
This is an effort to protect privacy, minimize the risk of fraud and to comply with federal regulations. Your social security number will continue to be maintained in Banner for certain human resource and/or student financial aid purposes.
