Mobile Loaves & Fishes, Inc

Mobile Loaves & Fishes, Inc. (MLF) is a social outreach ministry to the homeless and indigent working poor that provides “food, clothing and dignity to our brothers and sisters in need."

Started in Austin, Texas in 1998, MLF came to Nashville in June of 2007. Belmont Sociology classes–with help from faculty and staff drivers--provided 18 additional days of service to MLF this fall. Belmont and MLF have formed a partnership and hope to expand our service over the holiday break and throughout the spring semester (and beyond)!

MLF has volunteer opportunities for everyone: Individuals, Families, and Organizations (e.g., fraternities and sororities, bible study groups, dorms, clubs). If you are willing to work, we can use you!

In addition to making and delivering food, MLF needs other kinds of assistance such as “make ready” teams. If you’re interested in volunteering, contact Sara Hylton, MLF Program Director, at shylton@mlfnashville.org. Each run lasts about 4 hours and you can help as much or as little as you like throughout the term. Community Service Convo is available.

Lastly, MLF can use the following:

•Gently used clothing or blankets that you no longer need. At this time, we are particularly interested in coats, hats, scarves, and gloves that will protect people from the upcoming winter weather.
•Small toiletries -- shampoos, conditioners, soaps, combs, lip balm, lotion, nail clippers, tampons and feminine hygiene products, shaving cream/razors, toothbrushes/paste, toilet paper
•Individually wrapped medicines such as 2-pill Advil packs, band-aids
•Baby wipes
•New socks (Highly desirable item!)
We invite you to use drop off box outside 300H Wheeler.

Any questions, please feel free to call or email.
