MLK Week Bus Trip to Cincinnati on Jan. 31

The Martin Luther King, Jr. committee is sponsoring a bus trip to Civil Rights Sites in Cincinnati, Ohio on Jan. 31, 2009. We will board the bus at 4:30 a.m. in the lower circle (in front of Wheeler) and will return to Belmont about 10 p.m. This trip is limited to one bus and will be on a first-come basis. The cost is $25 per person. Upon arrival in Cincinnati, we will tour the United Underground Railroad Freedom Center (www.freedomcenter.org). Following this, we will go as a group to lunch. The afternoon will include a trip to RACE: Are We So Different?, a traveling exhibit at the Cincinnati History Museum.

A bus trip to a significant civil rights site is a part of the MLK week celebration each year. We’ve been to Memphis, Birmingham, Atlanta and Cincinnati in the past. This year we are fortunate to be able to include the RACE exhibit in our plans. The exhibit is not scheduled to come to Tennessee, so this may be the only chance you have to see it. Students participating can receive personal/professional growth convocation credit. To apply, please come to the Psychology Building and see Mary Godwin for an application and to pay your $25.
