2nd Half Spring 2013 Group Fitness Schedule

Belmont Community,

The 2nd half of the spring 2013 semester is here with plenty of group fitness classes to choose from.  All your favorite classes such as Zumba, Pilates, Spin, Yoga, and Cardio Dance are back as well as some new additions: Express Kickboxing, Circuit Training, and Bruin Conditioning.  Try our new classes and don’t forget to bring your friends, a water bottle, and a towel.

Intramural Volleyball

Hey Belmont Students,

Are you ready to bump, set, and possibly spike!? Of course you are! And guess what? It is that time of the year for volleyball! Not only do we offer a regular season and a tournament for Men and Woman, but also for CO-rec! Get together your teams, one for your buddies or ladies, and then one for a little mixture of both, and then sign up on! You don’t want to miss out on this season, it’s going to be legend…..wait for it…….dary! Don’t forget to sign up before Friday, February 15th!  After signing up, a representative from your team must attend the mandatory Information Meeting on Monday, February 18th at 6:00PM in the Beaman Student Life Center first floor conference room.  Once that is complete...let the fun begin! We hope to see you all there! 



BOULDERDASH X is coming!

Outdoor Pursuits is proud to present the 10th annual Boulderdash climbing competition with our sponsors Mountain High Outfitters, Trango, Climb Nashville, The Crag at Cool Springs and Granite Gear.

Boulderdash X will be held on Saturday, February 23 from noon to 5pm at the Beaman Center climbing wall, and is open to Belmont students and faculty/staff of all climbing skill and interest levels. Scoring will be based on skill level and divided into both men’s and women’s competitions. Both bouldering routes and top rope routes will be included.

Registration is $10 ($12 day-of), and includes a t-shirt, raffle ticket and food during the event. We’ll be raffling off lots of swag donated by our sponsors, and trophies and prizes will also be awarded to the winners from each division.

Beaman Trainer I Preparation Course

  • Do you like to motivate people to accomplish their fitness goals?
  • Do you enjoy physical activity and believe that it is important?
  • Do you want to impact lives of others through personal training?

If you answered yes to all of these questions, you have a unique opportunity to work as a personal trainer for the Belmont’s Department of Fitness and Recreation!

Apply today for Beaman Trainer I Prep Course and upon successful completion of the weekend long training you will become a Beaman Trainer.

 When: Saturday, February 16th, 9am-5pm

Sunday, February 17th, 1pm-5pm

Where: Fish Bowl Conference Room in the Beaman Center

Group Fitness Room in the Beaman Center

What:  1st day – Theoretical knowledge --> presentations and discussions

2nd day – Practice assessment --> exercises, quizzes

Who can apply:  Any Belmont student who is currently enrolled

Intramural Wallyball

In preparation for the Intramural Volleyball season later this semester, we have something to warm you up!  If you are looking for something with a smaller area, less teammates to bother you, and free reign to play off the walls, then Wallyball is the Intramural sport for you!  Wallyball is an underrated sport that is similar to volleyball, but played in the Racquetball Courts in the Beaman Student Life Center.   Get a couple friends together and come join us for some fun.  You do like fun, right?  Well, if you do then you will not want to miss out on this opportunity!  Sign your team up by February 1st on and do not forget about the info meeting on the 4th of February!  We are looking forward to seeing you all out on the court!

Intramural Racquetball

The spring semester of Intramurals is in full gear and it is time for you to grab your three favorite things, goggles, a racquet, and a little blue ball. Do you all know what that means? It is time to be trapped in a gigantic box with only your opponent to defeat. Yes, you guessed correctly, it is Intramural Racquetball time! Never played Racquetball before? Don’t let that stop you, come out and play in our yearly Racquetball tournament. There is even a sitting area for your friends and family to come cheer you on to victory! Make sure you get yourself signed up by the 25th of January on! There will also be an Information Meeting on the 28th of January to go over everything you will need to know about the Racquetball tournament. The meeting will be at 6:00PM in the first floor conference room of the Beaman Student Life Center.  We are looking forward to seeing many of you on the court this year! 


Intramural Basketball

Football season is finally coming to a close.  There are whispers of March Madness in the air.  Do you know what that means?  It's Basketball season here at Belmont University!  Don't let our Men's and Women's Bruins have all the fun, come out and play Intramural Basketball with us!  Intramural Basketball is one of the biggest events put on by the department attracting nearly 40 teams last year.  We offer a couple regular season games to get you and your team on the right track and then there is a big tournament at the end of the season that is sure to produce a lot of excitement!  Don't miss out, get your teams together and sign up on today!  Rosters are due by Friday, January 18th, 2013.  There will be a mandatory information meeting for all registered teams on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013 in the first floor conference room of the Beaman Student Life Center.  We look forward to seeing you all there! 


Polar Bear 5K Fun Run

The Department of Fitness and Recreation is proud to announce the 7th annual Polar Bear 5K Fun Run as part of Belmont University’s homecoming week.   The purpose of the 5K is to bring Belmont’s community of students, faculty, and staff together to engage in a healthy fitness activity.  The run is scheduled for Friday, February 1st at 6:30am and will take participants through the beautiful and historic Belmont /Hillsboro neighborhood.  Last year’s event was a huge success with over 150 runners/walkers participating so we need YOU this year to show your school spirit once again.  Remember, this is not a race, this is a fun run; therefore, everyone can participate so grab your friends and sign up today.  We are looking forward seeing you on February 1st bright and early.
