Football season is finally coming to a close. There are whispers of March Madness in the air. Do you know what that means? It's Basketball season here at Belmont University! Intramural Basketball is one of the biggest events put on by the department attracting nearly 40 teams last year. We offer a couple regular season games to get you and your team on the right track and then there is a big tournament at the end of the season that is sure to produce a lot of excitement! The Department of Fitness and Recreation is proud to announce the 7th annual Polar Bear 5K Fun Run as part of Belmont University’s homecoming week. The purpose of the 5K is to bring Belmont’s community of students, faculty, and staff together to engage in a healthy fitness activity. The run is scheduled for Friday, February 1st at 6:30am and will take participants through the beautiful and historic Belmont /Hillsboro neighborhood. Last year’s event was a huge success with over 150 runners/walkers participating so we need YOU this year to show your school spirit once again. Remember, this is not a race, this is a fun run; therefore, everyone can participate so grab your friends and sign up today. We are looking forward seeing you on February 1st bright and early.

Come join us December 5th thru December 11th for our exam exercise classes! Classes will include Pilates, Turbokick, Zumba, Spin, Cardio Sculpt, Step Interval and Restorative Yoga. All the classes during exams will take place at 12pm and 5pm on each exam day. So take a break from studying, grab some friends and come to play with a purpose at the Beaman!

Got an awesome Halloween costume you’re just itching to show off?
Come to Outdoor Pursuits’ annual Spookydash Halloween climb night! We’ll be giving you the the once-a-year chance to climb and boulder in your costume. We’ll have tons of candy, refreshments and general Halloween goodness. If you’re one of the first ten to arrive at the climbing wall, you’ll receive a free OP tshirt, and if you’re costume really is as awesome as you think it is, you just might win one of our costumer prizes!
Spookydash will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 7pm-10pm at the Beaman climbing wall. Join us for some holiday fun and craziness!
The Intramural Turkey Trott is a 5k race around Belmont University's campus. The actual race is on Wednesday, November 14th. Racer sign in will begin at 2:30PM right outside the Curb Cafe and the race will begin at 4:00 PM. Registration is due on imleagues.com by Friday, November 9th, 2012. The Info Meeting is Monday, November 12th, 2012 at 6:00PM. Sign up in teams of 3 on imleagues.com . Bruin Cup points will be awarded based on team sign up and finishing place. The race will be scored like a cross country race with the lowest scoring team winning. 1st place is worth 1 point, 2nd place worth 2 points and so on. Individuals are certainly allowed to sign up and compete in the race. The individual male and female winners will still get a prize! Also, don't forget to bring cans for the Turkey Trott Canned Food Drive all day on November 14th! If you are participating on a Bruin Cup team then you must bring cans in order to be eligible to recieve points for the event. EVERYONE should bring cans to help us fight hunger leading into the Holiday season! Cans can be delivered all day in the Beaman Student Life Center fitness lobby or at the sign in desk starting at 2:30 outside the Curb Cafe! We look forward to a great day with the Canned Food Drive and the Turkey Trott 5k!

Each registered team must have at least one member in attendance at this meeting so that important information can be relayed to the rest of the participants. Gather your teams, sign up at imleagues.com, begin your pre-tournament workouts and practices, and bring your A-Game to the tournament. We can't wait to see everyone at the Intramural 3 on 3 Basketball tournament soon!
Intramural Futsal is right around the corner so lace up your shoes and get your teams ready! There will be a Men's and Women's tournament hosted in the Beaman Student Life Center Recreational Gym for registered teams. Rosters are due online at imleagues.com by Friday, October 26th, 2012. The Information Meeting will be Monday, October 29th, 2012 at 6:00PM in the Beaman Student Life Center first floor conference room. Each registered team must have AT LEAST one representative at this meeting to pass along important information to their team. We are looking to begin the tournament play on either Wednesday or Thursday after the Information Meeting (October 31st or November 1st).
